Testing for Eligibility Pool for Police Dispatch Candidates

City of Spearfish Police Department is accepting applications for a testing and eligibility pool for future Police Dispatch candidates.

Responsibilities:  Will receive and record incoming enforcement and emergency-related calls from the public, both in person and on the telephone.  Candidate will refer callers and/or transmit or relay orders to the appropriate police patrol, fire, Civil Defense, ambulance, Public Works personnel, county authorities, or other related agencies. 

Requirements:  Ability to type 35 wpm, ability to be bonded, High school diploma or GED certificate, possession of a valid SD driver’s license, and ability to obtain State required training certificates within one year of hiring date.  Position will require availability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays. Residency required within a distance from the City of Spearfish adequate to meet a 30 minute response time requirement.

Part-Time Public Works Laborer – Streets

City of Spearfish is accepting applications for a part-time, (20 hours per week) partial benefit eligible - Public Works Laborer assigned to the Street Department.

Responsibilities:  Competently and safely operate, service and maintain equipment, vehicles and tools.  Assist in maintaining areas within the City of Spearfish, such as pothole repair, crack sealing, repair to street signs, snow removal and grounds care.

Requirements:  High school diploma or GED certificate, possession of a valid SD Driver’s License with clean driving history.  Experience with snow removal and equipment preferred.

Requirements: Concession Assistants, Tennis Instructors, and Lifeguards must be 16 years of age or older.  All other positions must be 18 years of age or older before date of hire.  Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.  Starting wage $8.50-$9.50 per hour.  Hours can be weather dependent.  First review of applications will be March 2, 2015
