Placing a Hold

Holds can be placed on upcoming items or those that are cataloged in the system but are currently checked out. You can place a hold on an item in the catalog by searching for the item, checking availability, and then clicking "Request". You will be prompted to enter your Library Barcode number (without spacing) and then your password, which is your last name. You will receive notification when the item has been returned to the library and is available for checkout.

You can also place a hold for an item that is currently unavailable by calling the library or at the Circulation Desk. Please have your library card available when placing holds.

Electronic Books

To access an electronic book from our online catalog, find the book within our online catalog, click on the link within the record, and when prompted set up an account with the username and password of your choosing. Future attempts will not require a new account, simply enter the username and password you have selected. These books can be viewed online via any computer but are not available for download to reader devices. Most of these are reference or classic titles.

For access to downloadable e-books and audiobooks, select the South Dakota Titles to Go link on the right side of our homepage. Access these titles using the barcode on the back of your library card and your last name as your pin. Instructions for downloading to various devices are available from the South Dakota Titles to Go site.
