Storm Water Facts for the Spearfish Area:
 Many people do the not realize the City’s storm drainage system is separate from the sanitary sewer system. This means the storm water flows from rain and snow melt flow to the nearest drainage area not limited but including Spearfish Creek. The city is in the process placing markers such as the one pictured below by the storm drains to remind people that the drains do run to the creek and other drainage areas in town.
The primary goal of the Storm Water program is to prevent the degradation of these areas. If you notice an illicit discharge (a discharge which may be detrimental to the integrity of the stream) please notify us at 642-1333.
