Care & Maintenance
Care and maintenance of all trees on private property, and those trees within the public right-of-way abutting private property, shall be the responsibility of the property owner. The city may require you to remove any dead or diseased tree on your property that constitutes a hazard or harbors pests harmful to other trees.
Vertical Line Rule
As a general rule, bushes cannot extend over a vertical line above the edge of the sidewalk. Overhanging trees should be trimmed to not less than 8 feet above a sidewalk, and 14 feet above the street. Property owners are also responsible for pruning tree branches and shrubs so that they do not obstruct the view of any street or alley intersection.
Branch Piles
Branch piles and broken or cut limbs must be removed from the property. Cut wood to be used as firewood should be neatly stacked and not loosely piled on the property.
