Spring & Fall Clean Up

The City of Spearfish offers two opportunities during the year for residents to utilize the Restricted Use Site (RUS) free of charge. Spearfish and Lawrence County residents are encouraged to participate in the fee waived events to eliminate the junk and clutter on their property.

Fall Clean Up Days

Fall clean up days are September 20th through 22nd. Curbside pickup will not be available.

The Restricted Use Site (RUS) is located on Highway 85, 1.5 miles north of I-90's Exit 10 intersection, then left on Camp Comfort Road and will be open free of charge during these days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Items Accepted

The following items are accepted:

  • Appliances
  • Batteries
  • Carpet
  • Construction Materials
  • Furniture
  • Grass Clippings
  • Iron
  • Leaves
  • Mattresses/Box Springs
  • Metal
  • Trees

Gas / Diesel Powered Items

Lawn mowers, weed eaters and any other gas/diesel powered item needs to be completely drained of all fluids (fuel and oil) before being accepted at the RUS.

Tires

Tires without rims and appliance which use freon will be accepted for a fee.

Items Not Accepted

The following items are not accepted at the RUS:

  • Asbestos
  • Cardboard
  • Chemicals and Hazardous or Toxic Wastes
  • Clothing
  • Household Garbage
  • Paper
  • Plastic
  • Treated Lumber

Larger Clean-Out Containers for Rent

In addition, larger clean-out containers are available to rent from the Utility Billing office through-out the year with the exception of clean up days. See the policy and procedures for obtaining these services.
