The City of Spearfish offers two opportunities during the year for residents to utilize the Restricted Use Site (RUS) free of charge - a Spring and a Fall Clean-up. Spearfish and Lawrence County residents are encouraged to participate in these free events to eliminate the junk and clutter on their property.
The Fall Cleanup event is scheduled for Thursday, September 20 through Sunday, September 23, 2018. The Restricted Use Site, aka RUS or Rubble Site, located 1.5 miles north of I-90's Exit 10 just off Highway 85 on Camp Comfort Road, will be open free of charge during these days from 9AM to 5PM.
Items Accepted at the RUS:
Trees, leaves, grass clippings, construction materials, metal, iron, appliances, batteries, furniture, carpet and mattresses/box springs. Tires without rims and appliances which use freon will be accepted for a fee. Lawn mowers, weed eaters and any other gas/diesel powered item needs to be completely drained of all fluids (fuel and oil) before being accepted at the RUS.
The following Items are NOT ACCEPTED at the RUS:
Household garbage, paper, cardboard, plastic, clothing, asbestos, chemicals and hazardous or toxic wastes and treated lumber.
