Spearfish and Lawrence County residents are encouraged to take part in Fall Cleanup, from September 21st through September 24th. In addition to the Spearfish RUS waiving fees for residential disposal, City crews will offer City Residential pick up services for disposing large items.
The RUS, located 1 ½ miles north of Interstate 90’s Exit 10 just off of Highway 85 on Camp Comfort Road, will be open free of charge Thursday through Sunday, September 21st through September 24th, from 9am to 5pm.
Items accepted at the RUS: trees, leaves, grass clippings, construction materials, metal, iron, appliances, batteries, furniture, carpet, and mattresses/box springs. Tires without rims and appliances which use freon will be accepted for a fee. Lawn mowers, weed eaters, and any other gas/diesel powered item needs to be completely drained of all fluids (fuel and oil) before being accepted at the RUS.
Items not accepted include: household garbage, paper, cardboard, plastic, clothing, asbestos, chemicals, and hazardous or toxic wastes.
